HUSKER WOMEN REMAIN UNBEATEN:

Sam Haiby scored 10 of her 13 points in the fourth quarter to help Nebraska rally from a four-point fourth-quarter deficit for a 70-67 women’s basketball win at Minnesota on Monday night at Williams Arena.

With the victory, Nebraska improved to 9-0 and opened Big Ten play with a road win in an arena the Huskers had not won in since Dec. 31, 2017. It was just NU’s third all-time win over the Golden Gophers in Minneapolis

Nebraska’s Jaz Shelley continued her outstanding play with 15 points while adding five assists and four rebounds

The Huskers return home for the first time in three weeks when Nebraska plays host to Indiana State on Saturday at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Tip-off between the Big Red and the Sycamores is set for 1 p.m.

The Husker Women remain undefeated at 9-0 and take on Indiana State on Saturday.

The Huskers dominated the final quarter as well, with Sam Haiby scoring 10 of 13 in the final quarter. 

 

WILLIAMS – HUSKERS CONTINUE TO SHOW FIGHT WHILE PERFECT

Amy Williams, Nebraska Women’s Basketball Head Coach, continued the Huskers’ unbeaten season with a Big Ten opening win on Monday night. 

Williams said the message remains the same for the Huskers, who continue to show fight… 

The Huskers return to home on Saturday to take on Indiana State. 

 

HUSKER MEN PREPARE FOR MICHIGAN AT HOME:

The Nebraska men’s basketball team makes its only home appearance in a three-week span Tuesday night, as the Huskers welcome Michigan to Pinnacle Bank Arena for the Huskers’ Big Ten home opener. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m. and the matchup will be on ESPN2 and on the Huskers Radio Network.

The Huskers (5-4) look to snap a two-game losing streak following a 68-55 loss at Indiana on Saturday.

Tuesday’s game features two of the Big Ten’s best freshmen in Nebraska’s Bryce McGowens and Michigan’s Caleb Houstan. McGowens is averaging team-bests in both scoring (17.3 ppg) and rebounding (6.9 rpg), as he leads all Big Ten freshmen in scoring and is second in rebounding. 

 

HUSKER ASSISTANT TAKES LEAVE OF ABSENCE:

Nebraska men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg announced Monday that assistant coach Matt Abdelmassih is taking a leave of absence from the Husker basketball program.

It is unsure at this time when Abdelmassih will return to the team.

 

FROST CONTINUES SEEKING OFFENSIVE ASSISTANTS, CONTACTS UNK’S LYNN

The search for Scott Frost and the Huskers’ remaining offensive coaching staff continues, but some meetings have taken place. Several names have floated for the offensive coordinator position – including former USC coordinator Graham Harrell. 

Frost interviewed Chicago Bears assistant offensive line coach Donovan Raiola and Notre Dame’s offensive line coach Jeff Quinn last week. 

UNK Football’s Josh Lynn did meet with Frost in Lincoln last week, per the Lincoln Journal Star, but there has been no confirmation regarding the extent of their conversation. Along with his head coaching duties, Lynn also assists in coaching the offensive line for the Lopers. 

 

HEISMAN FINALISTS NAMED:

Alabama star Bryce Young headlines the list of four finalists for the Heisman Trophy.

Michigan’s Aidan Hutchinson, Pittsburgh’s Kenny Pickett, and Ohio State’s CJ Stroud round out the group, with the winner to be announced Saturday at 8 PM on ESPN.

 

ERIC CROUCH COLLEGE FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME INDUCTION TODAY

Former Nebraska quarterback and 2001 Heisman Trophy Winner Eric Crouch will be included into the College Football Hall of Fame today. His induction will be as part of the 2020 class. 

The induction ceremony will begin at 11:30 PM CT. 

Crouch won the Heisman Trophy after rushing for over 1,100 yards and 18 touchdowns, as well as tossing 7 touchdowns that season. 

 

BIDEN ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCES DIPLOMATIC BOYCOTT OF OLYMPICS

The Biden Administration is expected to announce a US Government officials boycott of the 2022 Beijing Olympics. A full boycott is not expected, as US athletes are still expected to compete. 

The last boycott of the Olympic games was in 1980 under the Carter administration.

COOK – GOOD JOB BY HUSKERS OVER SEMINOLES

Nebraska Volleyball Coach John Cook liked his team’s effort in a sweep over Florida State on Saturday night to advance in the NCAA Tournament… 

The Huskers also swept Campbell on Friday night as well. Nebraska will travel to Texas to take on Illinois on Thursday night in the Sweet 16 matchup of Big Ten foes.

 

COOK – PASSING COULD IMPROVE

Head Coach of Nebraska Volleyball John Cook was pleased by the efforts of his team against Florida State on Saturday in a sweep, but said his team’s passing could have been more efficient… 

Cook and the Huskers take on a familiar foe on Thursday as Nebraska battles Illinois.

Nebraska Volleyball Coach John Cook was proud of his team’s defensive effort in Saturday’s sweep over Florida State…
