KEARNEY, Neb. — The Kearney Family YMCA broke ground February 21, 2022, on a new parking lot and paved pathway, the first of many projects in the Healthier Tomorrows Capital Campaign. The refurbishments to the south parking lot will free up parking on 6th and 7th Avenues, and the pathway will ease travel between the YMCA and the eFree Church.

The work is expected to take six to eight weeks, and as it will be concentrated to the south of the facility, should not interfere with regular YMCA operations. Blessing Construction, LLC is handling the parking lot and pathway concrete work, while BD Construction, Inc. is finalizing a schedule for the rest of the project.

The Healthier Tomorrows Campaign is currently in the final stages of fundraising for the expansion, collecting the final $1 million of the $8.8 million needed to complete the project. The campaign will support and increase YMCA operations by adding a new 26,000-square-foot wing and providing enhancements throughout the existing facility to better serve the Kearney community.
