Kearney’s regional air carrier SkyWest based out of St. George Utah has informed the Department of Transportation they are dropping air service to more than 25 communities across the United States including Kearney, North Platte and Scottsbluff. The company said that the current pilot shortage is a main contributor to this decision to drop flights to cities under the government’s Essential Air Service program. SkyWest fly from Kearney to Denver and to Chicago as United Express. According to Skywest’s announcement, flights will end around June 10, 2022.
