University of Nebraska at Kearney Chancellor Doug Kristensen joined KGFW Associate News Director Liz Macias today on Talk of The Town, and his monthly UNK report.
This is the last week of classes for students at the college, with finals next week. Kristensen spoke about the commencement ceremony coming up mid-May, where students will receive their degrees.
Along with new hires at UNK, there are a number of retirements, most notable is Senior Vice Chancellor of Academic and Student Affairs, and professor of Biology at the college Charlie Bicak.
Chancellor Kristensen discussed the funding for the rural health facility at UNK. The University has received partial funding from the Nebraska Legislature and that is a good start. The college would still require $35 million more in funding, and they are working on that plan. Kristensen added that all medical college programs would be represented in to the new facility at UNK by 2025 aside from dentistry.
