Kearney Boys Hoops Sweeps Competition at Midwest Showcase

By Austin Jacobsen Jun 19, 2023 | 3:00 PM

KANSAS CITY, MO – The Kearney Boys basketball team had a successful outing in Kansas City’s Hy-Vee Arena on Saturday and Sunday, going undefeated in the D1 Midwest Showcase.

The Bearcat girls were in action on Thursday and Friday. Find their results here: Day 1, Day 2.

The showcase is organized and ran by the Missouri High School Athletics Association, and competitions are set as two eighteen minute halves with a consistent running clock that can only be stopped with a timeout, injury, or a stopped ball within two minutes. Additionally, free throws outside of the two minute mark are counted as one shot for two points.

The matchups do not count towards varsity competition. The showcase is put on for team development, overall competition, and to allow collegiate coaches to scout potential prospects and recruits.

Kearney returns three starters from last year’s team that ended as district runner-up, falling to Millard North in the A-2 District Final at the end of February.
