NORTH PLATTE – The Kearney POST 52 Juniors will face a new opponent in a familiar location on Thursday, traveling to North Platte to take on an Australian Legion team at Bill Wood Field.
Through the World Baseball Showcase, the WBS provides the opportunity for international and local baseball players to develop and pursue their dream of playing college or professional baseball, as per their website.
The Australian team will make their furthest trip East to North Platte Thursday, as the team had regularly played on the West Coast until their recent trips through Idaho, Utah, and most recently Scottsbluff. After the matchup with the Kearney Juniors, the team will return back through Scottsbluff before traveling through Wyoming.
The Kearney POST 52 Juniors split their Wednesday matchups with the Norfolk Elkhorn Valley Juniors, setting their season record at 15-10. Kearney and the Australian WBS squad will match up in a doubleheader, with first pitch scheduled for 11 AM and 1:30 PM.
