Donovan Raiola was the only holdover from the Scott Frost staff to stay on under head coach Matt Rhule’s first season. Raiola added after Tuesday’s practice that his second season will aid in consistency with the pipeline…

Donovan Raiola, Nebraska Football’s offensive line coach, was asked after Tuesday’s practice what’s the balance between coaching players to finish their blocks in practice and protecting their defensive teammates…

Nebraska will have fresh faces on the offensive line including redshirt freshman Justin Evans-Jenkins at center, transfer Ben Scott at tackle, along with new potential starters at other positions.

RAIOLA – LINEMAN NEED TO UNDERSTAND STANDARD TO IMPROVE:

Matt Rhule has installed a new “standard” for the Nebraska Football team, and offensive line coach Donovan Raiola has been adamant with his lineman that if they improve, so do the Huskers…

Nebraska opens their season on August 31 on a Thursday night against Minnesota.

NEBRASKA QUARTERBACK NAMED TO O’BRIEN WATCHLIST:

Jeff Sims was one of 35 quarterbacks nationally named to the Davey O’Brien Award preseason watch list. The Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award is presented annually to the nation’s best college quarterback.

Sims is in his first season at Nebraska in 2023 after spending three years at Georgia Tech. Sims started 23 games for the Yellow Jackets and completed 57.5 percent of his passes for 4,464 yards and 30 touchdowns while rushing for 1,152 yards and 11 scores. Sims enters the 2023 season as one of 14 active FBS quarterbacks with 4,000 career passing yards and 1,000 career rushing yards.

Sims is the third Husker to be named to a national award watch list, joining punter Brian Buschini (Ray Guy Award) and offensive lineman Ben Scott (Rimington Trophy).

HUSKER HOOPS OFFICIALLY ADD FORMER BALL STATE GUARD COLEMAN:

The Nebraska men’s basketball program added another important backcourt piece with size and experience, as Jarron “Boogie” Coleman signed to play with the Huskers for the 2023-24 season.

Coleman, a 6-5, 210-pound guard from Indianapolis, Ind., has started 86 games and totaled more than 1,100 points, 325 assists and 450 rebounds in his college career, which includes stints at Ball State and Missouri.

Coleman earned second-team All-Mid-American Conference honors as Ball State posted a 20-12 record last season.

The former Cardinal guard will have one year of eligibility remaining.

RHULE – QUARTERBACKS HAVE IMPROVED SINCE START OF CAMP:

Head Coach for Nebraska Football Matt Rhule was asked about his thoughts on the development of his quarterbacks after Tuesday’s practice…

Jeff Sims is the presumed starter for the Big Red, who arrived from Georgia Tech in the portal prior to spring camp.

RHULE – HUSKERS WILL NEED STRONG LINE PLAY:

Husker Football Head Coach Matt Rhule was adamant during his Tuesday presser after practice that his team will be defined by the play of the interior of the offense and defense…

The Huskers hope to find consistency with the offensive line, aiming for a rotation of seven to ten players for the pipeline.

RHULE – OFFENSIVE LINE NUMBERS KEEP GROWING:

Matt Rhule, Nebraska Football Head Coach, shared the Big Red’s offensive comfortability with their offensive line numbers…

The Huskers currently have an injury to left tackle Teddy Prochazka, but he is expected to recover in time for the Minnesota contest.

RHULE – SPECIAL TEAMS IS A PRIORITY:

Nebraska Football has had inconsistencies in special teams season after season. First year Head Coach Matt Rhule stated after Tuesday’s practice that the expectations for the third phase of the game has shifted…
