KPS Thank-A-Teacher Campaign

By Elizabeth Macias Aug 22, 2023 | 4:40 PM

The Kearney Public Schools Foundation is hosting their annual Thank-A-Teacher Campaign.

Since 2019, KPS teachers in the district have been able to receive gifts from the public that they have been able to use towards the classroom. Using them for classroom supplies, crafts, creating a fun engaging learning environment and more. The campaign has been able to help teachers purchase $45,000 in classroom supplies.

KPS Foundation Executive Director Lisa Parish shared that over the years, the cost teachers’ pay out of pocket for the classroom has increased. ” When we started the campaign in 2019 the statistics that I saw said the average teacher spends $250 on supplies for their classroom. Today I have been seeing numbers that can be as high as $750.”

As part of the campaign this week between August 21-27, Kearney Noon Kiwanis will be matching every donation up to $3,000.

After September, the certificates for each teacher will be created and given in October.

“It conveys to them, I think the most important thing, conveys how grateful we are for the success of our kids in Kearney Public Schools” said Parish.

Donations can be dropped in person at the KPS Foundation located at 320 W 24th St, Kearney or done online here.
