NEBRASKA MEN GO COLD IN IOWA:
Three different Hawkeyes finished with a double-double as the University of Iowa men’s basketball team defeated Nebraska, 94-76, in Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Friday night.
The Hawkeyes shot 19-of-32 (59.4%) from the field in the second half and 8-of-15 (53.3%) from three to pull away. Iowa had 17 assists on 19 made field goals in the second half while committing just one turnover. The Hawkeye defense held Nebraska to 4-of-26 (15.4%) from deep.
The Big Red take on Rutgers on Wednesday on the road in Piscataway, New Jersey.
HUSKER WRESTLING DROPS HOME MATCHUP TO IOWA:
Jacob Van Dee earned an upset and Lenny Pinto tallied a major decision, but it was not enough as the #4 Nebraska wrestling team fell to Iowa on Friday night, 22-10.
Up next, the Huskers hit the road to face Minnesota on Friday, Jan. 19 at 9 p.m. (CT) before they return home to host Purdue on Sunday, Jan. 21. The dual at Minnesota will be televised on BTN and the matchup with the Boilermakers will be streamed on Big Ten Plus.
UNK T&F ADJUSTS TRAVEL PLANS:
The Nebraska-Kearney track and field team has seen its schedule change for the weekend due to the winter storm in the area.
The Lopers were slated to attend the two-day Graduate Classic (Jan. 12-13) in Lincoln but, due to road conditions, the team won’t be at UNL on Friday. The meet schedule had already been reduced to just six events on day one. UNK is hoping to attend Saturday, in some capacity, when action begins at 10 and runs to around 6:30 p.m. Note Saturday’s schedule still may still change.
With the situation at UNL, the Lopers will also attend the annual Scott Nisely Memorial Classic Saturday in Crete. That meet starts at 11 a.m. and should wrap up around 6:15 p.m.
