KEARNEY – Kearney defeats Holdrege 12-0 and loses 7-5 to McCook on Tuesday as part of the Kearney High School varsity quad.

“Overall today didn’t quite turn out how we wanted it to. We weren’t able to win the close matches today against McCook. We lost 5-7, but lost 3 matches 8-6, 9-7, and 9-8. We flip one of those results and we win the dual. Unfortunately, we need to do a better job of closing out games. We had game points in many games that we ended up losing and that turned out to be the difference in those close matches. Emma Heacock, Addy Sutton, and Emily Larsen won all 4 of their matches today. Emma continues to show her versatility in her game. She did an excellent job of mixing up her shots from the depth to the spin. This really kept her opponents off balance. Addy Sutton continues to be a consistent player in our lineup. Addy did a great job of placing her shots and moving her opponent all over the court. Emily Larsen used strong and consistent groundstrokes in both her singles and doubles matches.
