Kearney was able to rattle Chieftains ace pitcher Manny Reyes, giving up three free bases in the first inning to Garrison Burns, Griffin Novachek, and Bryce Andersen. Burns would score on a sac fly from Kegan Brand. Bellevue would respond with two runs of their own in the bottom of the second.

The Bearcats would take back the lead with two runs in the second, scoring Jase Blattner and Kaleb Larson, which prompted the Chieftains to pull Reyes for Mitch Goldschmidt. Goldschmidt would throw five scoreless innings, striking out two, and picking up the victory for Bellevue East.

The Chieftains would receive help from a few Bearcat errors in the bottom of the third, when Cooper Brown, Mason Chandler, and Landyn Albrecht would all score.

Rhett Mundorf would be credited for the loss for Kearney, allowing six hits and five runs (four earned) in 5.1 innings pitched.

The busy week continues for Kearney today, as Lincoln Northwest makes their way for their first trip to Memorial Field.
