NFL DRAFT FIRST ROUND SHOWCASES QUARTERBACKS, OFFENSE EARLY:

The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner, Caleb Williams, kicked off an historic NFL draft Thursday night that had five other teams selecting quarterbacks among the top 12 picks, setting a record with five in the top 10 and tying a record for the most in the first round.

Williams began the fun with the top pick to the Chicago Bears, followed by LSU’s Jayden Daniels to the Washington Commanders and the New England Patriots taking North Carolina’s Drake Maye.

The biggest surprise of the night came at No. 8, where Atlanta selected Washington’s Michael Penix despite signing Kirk Cousins in free agency. Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy went No. 10 to Minnesota, and the Denver Broncos finished the run on quarterbacks with Oregon’s Bo Nix at No. 12.
