LINCOLN — Governor Pillen, together with Senator Beau Ballard, the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) and Hawkins Construction will host a press conference on Monday, April 29 to highlight the beginning of the 2024 construction season.

The group will discuss the I-80 expansion from Lincoln to Pleasant Dale, which is the largest planned transportation project in the 2024 construction season. Last July, NDOT published the one-year program that includes the six-lane expansion between NW 56th Street in Lincoln to Pleasant Dale; interstate and rest area improvements, the US-6 and 192nd Street Interchange and Dodge Interchange in Omaha and the addition of a new roundabout on Hwy 77 near Wahoo.

This significant investment will enhance mobility and safety for travelers and first responders. As construction season begins for this major corridor and on projects across the state, NDOT reminds the public to slow down in work zones to ensure everyone gets to their destinations safely.
