Abundant Life Church, (Carol Bryant, Central Nebraska Today)
GRAND ISLAND — Abundant Life Church is currently exploring a potential move from our current location to Veterans Village.
It is important to note, we recognize any property owned by the city would need to be released to Woodsonia for development in order to establish a legal contractual agreement with Woodsonia.
Currently, we don’t have a legal contract in place. Our language and official communications have consistently reflected a “potential move” to relocate. We have, however, been in talks, researched and gained an overwhelming majority vote of support from our congregation for a future move.
The reason for our exploration and relocation is based on our goal to both care for our congregation and serve the community. If everything goes through, we believe it will also be a “big win” for Grand Island because our current property of over 25 acres can become developed for commercial use, providing more jobs and tax revenue for the city.
Abundant Life Church has had a congregation and served the community of Grand Island for 96 years. As we approach 100 years, we want to be in the best position to love and serve others. To give a better understanding of our community service efforts, here are a few highlights:
– Abundant Life Church has had various locations over the years and is approaching its 100th anniversary in Grand Island.
– We have adopted and currently partner with Dodge Elementary School, where we support the faculty with meals and snacks and organize events for students and their families.
– Volunteer teams from Abundant Life actively serve at the Salvation Army and Project Hunger.
– Several members of our congregation are faculty in local schools, along with numerous hospital staff, health care workers and small business owners.
– In our potential relocation, we have designed our education wing to accommodate pre-K programs and an after-school program to serve a growing need in Grand Island in the future.
We are committed to continue to serve the community of Grand Island no matter the location of our congregation.
