GRAND ISLAND – A Phillips man involved in a standoff with Grand Island police at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to unlawful user in possession of a firearm.

Tyler Caudill entered the plea on Jan. 15. He will be sentenced at 1 p.m. April 10.

In May 2021, Caudill, then 19, was found by a man passed out on a plane with a rifle. The man took the rifle, and Caudill remained in the plane.

Caudill refused to leave the plane. Grand Island police released a chemical irritant into the plane to get Caudill to leave the plane. Caudill had a Ruger AR-15 weapon.
