HOLDREGE — A Holdrege man is facing sexual assault and possession of child pornography charges after an investigation by the Holdrege Police Department and other agencies.

Dreyden Roemmich, 21, is charged with first degree sexual assault, a Class 2 felony and two counts of possession of child pornography, a Class 2A felony.

Roemmich was arraigned in Phelps County Court on Monday, June 30 and his bail was set at 10 percent of $100,000. A future hearing has been set for July 9 at 1:15 p.m.

The affidavit in support of the arrest warrant in this case has been sealed.

In a media release, Phelps County Attorney Corey O’Brien said the investigation is ongoing but it preliminary indicates that the interactions were with a juvenile occurred through social media applications, which progressed to the sharing of photos and videos. This eventually led to a sexual encounter.

Per the release, “at this time, the defendant is not being charged for any incidents related to other underage girls, however, it is possible that this was not an isolated event and that the defendant may have interacted with other underage girls in the area and region.”

“Accordingly, all parents in the area are urged to discuss this matter with their children and to notify local or state law enforcement immediately if they believe their child has had contact with the charged individual or any other person who has attempted to get them to share photos, videos or any other intimate details about themselves over social media applications,” per the release.

The Holdrege Police Department was assisted in their investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol and Kearney Police Department.
