GRAND ISLAND — Hope Harbor is proud to announce a financial partnership with Five Points Bank and Pinnacle Bank to support the development of Lighthouse Apartments, a $10 million permanent supportive housing project in downtown Grand Island.

Both banks will provide construction financing for the 20-unit development and have each pledged $50,000 toward the project’s capital campaign, demonstrating strong community leadership in addressing the regional housing crisis.

“This partnership is about more than financing—it’s about vision,” said Liz Mayfield, Executive Director of Hope Harbor. “Five Points Bank and Pinnacle Bank are helping us move from concept to construction, ensuring that Lighthouse Apartments becomes a reality for those who need it most.”

Lighthouse Apartments will include thirteen units for individuals and families experiencing chronic homelessness and/or those with a disability. The remaining seven units will prioritize families with Section 8 voucher. The project will offer long-term, stable housing paired with voluntary, trauma-informed services for people with disabilities and those with the highest barriers to housing.

Currently in the fundraising and site planning phase, the project is slated to break ground in spring 2026 with anticipated completion in 2027. Lighthouse Apartments will be the first supportive housing development in region 2, a 22-county area in central Nebraska with no existing units serving the chronically homeless population.

“We’re proud to work with community-minded partners who recognize that safe, stable housing is foundational,” said Mayfield. “Their investment brings us one step closer to creating real, lasting change.”
