UNK announced today on their social media pages that alcohol will not be served at tomorrow’s home opener against Chadron State.
In a statement posted Friday night, the university cited unforseen vendor insurance issues in their reasoning to not allow alcohol sales at tomorrow’s home opener. The vendor, the university, and UNK Athletics will all be working to make sure that alcohol sales can happen in future games.
The University of Nebraska Board of Regents approved alcohol sales at NU athletic venues last year, including UNK’s Ron and Carol Cope Stadium, in October of 2024. UNK announced that alcohol sales would take place at the stadium last month, and included new safety and security updates in a new no re-entry policy and a new bag-check policy.
UNK’s next home game after the Chadron State is on September 20th against Emporia State.
