HASTINGS — The Hastings Public Library invites families to a special, safe Halloween celebration with its first Trunk or Treat event on Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Library 302 Greenspace.
Denver Ave. will be closed from 3rd St. to 4th St. to safely transform the parking lot across the street into a festive route of fun, creatively decorated vehicles for children to trick-or-treat.
The event is free to all and will feature:
- A trunk-or-treat line of decorated vehicles sponsored by local businesses and community groups.
- Free bag for candy and treats for all attendees.
- A haunted Bookmobile with a special activity and other activities provided by trunks.
- Food trucks along the Hastings Ave. and 4th St. borders of the parking lot.
“Traditionally, downtown areas are central to community celebrations. Hastings is no different,” said Kelly Reisig, Library Director. “The library team is excited to step up and keep this fun event for children and their families in the downtown area. We hope to grow Trunk or Treat over the upcoming years.”
This event is made possible by the Hastings Library Foundation and is created in conjunction with the Business Improvement District of the City of Hastings.
Event details:
- All ages welcome; costumes encouraged!
- Free and open to the public.
- Friday, Oct. 31 from 5pm-7pm
- Located at 314 N. Denver Ave. including the parking lot.
The Library will be closed during the event. Community members, local businesses and organizations, and food trucks are encouraged to participate by filling out the registration form on the homepage of the library’s website, www.hastingslibrary.us.
