HASTINGS — A 15-year-old girl died as the result of a two-vehicle accident in Adams County during the morning hours of Monday, Sept. 29.

According to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene of the accident at the intersection of 42nd St. and Heartland Ave. at 7:03 a.m.

A southbound pickup, driven by a 25-year-old Grand Island man, collided with an eastbound car driven by a 15-year-old Hastings girl.

A 15-year-old passenger from Harvard was transported to Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings, where she was pronounced deceased.

The Nebraska State Patrol, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Hastings Rural Fire Dept., Glenvil Fire and Rescue, Trumbull Fire and Hastings Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said restraints were in use by both the driver and the passenger of the eastbound car, but not by the driver of the pickup.

The accident remains under investigation.
