Five vehicle thefts in Grand Island over the weekend

Several vehicle thefts happened over the weekend in Grand Island.

According to Grand Island Police, officers responded to five reported vehicle thefts between Saturday and in early hours Monday.

On Saturday August 12 at 7:47 a.m. at 118 W 12th St a vehicle was reported driving recklessly. The vehicle was unoccupied, but the reporting party stated two people left walking westbound. The vehicle was found to have been stolen. That same day a 2004 BMW X3 was reported stolen from a residence on the 4100 block of West Ridge Lane. The owner of the vehicle had left the doors unlocked and keys in the center console. Between August 11 and 12 a 2007 GMC K1500 was reported stolen from 1100 block of W 5th St. Within that same time frame another vehicle, a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder, was reported stolen from 5th St W with the keys left inside. Then on Sunday August 13, on the 1100 block of Pleasant View Dr. a 2013 Ford Explorer vehicle and its contents were reported stolen.

All vehicles have since been recovered.

Motorists are reminded to take out their valuables, keys, and any important items, before leaving and locking their vehicle.
