KEARNEY – The UNK Football team has lost a significant piece of its future plans at quarterback.

Redshirt sophomore quarterback Sean “Fats” Johnson Jr. announced on his personal X page that he is entering the transfer portal. The reserve quarterback received more playing time as the season progressed, seeing in action in the final five games of the UNK season.

Johnson was the expected incumbent with the graduation of TJ Davis this offseason.

Johnson ends his UNK career with two years of eligibility remaining, going 16/26 passing for 186 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions thrown. He also added fifteen carries for 84 yards in his two seasons.

More players continue to enter the portal after UNK finished 3-8 under first year head coach Ryan Held.
