GRAND ISLAND — Georgene J. Allen, 95, of Hastings died Friday, April 19, at Good Samaritan Society in Grand Island.
Allen and her late husband, Bob, operated Allen’s Superstore in Hastings for many years before they sold the store to B & R Stores in 2020.
Georgene Allen began working at Allen’s Superstore full-time in 1964 and worked there 56 years before the store was sold in 2020.
Georgene (Rasmussen) Allen was born in Grand Island and was a 1946 graduate of Grand Island Senior High School. She married Robert M. Allen in 1958. At one point, there were Allen’s stores in North Platte, Grand Island, and Hastings. Robert Allen’s brothers operated the stores in North Platte and Grand Island.
Georgene Allen frequently appeared on local TV ads for Allen’s Superstore.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 26, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hastings. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home in Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
